ink spot sculptural vase
Wheelthrown sculptural vase hand-altered with indents. Contrastingly glazed with a drippy, glossy, fluid oribe glaze with black ink spots that have developed through the firing process, over matte blue glaze with streaks of brown.
Dimensions: 3.5 x 7 in
Each piece is handmade with love and care at every step along the way. It begins as a lump of clay that is transformed into a one-of-a-kind work with its own story to tell through its unique design, texture, glaze, and size.
Your piece starts with being thrown on the wheel. Once dried to leather hard, tools are used to trim excess clay away to bring out its most optimal form and proportions, down to every last detail. It is then stamped with the kuzu maker's mark, left to slowly finish drying, then placed in the kiln to bisque fire.
The final major stage involves glazing and the final firing before the piece in its vitrified form has its bottom sanded smooth, is packaged, then shipped, and at last makes it into your hands. I hope you love it as much as I loved making it.
